Eliminate Product Analysis Report

Biofuels Research Centre is an independent department set up to study all aspect of biofuels within Napier University, Edinburgh. They have recently completed and published their findings on the microbiological efficacy of Stratus "Eliminate" in biodiesel.

In Summary;

Eliminate was found to achieved a complete kill of P. aeruginosa contamination at 1 in 1000 and 1 in 10,000 after 72 hours. The recommended dosage is 1 in 4000.

Biocide concentration of 1 in 1000 began to significantly reduce the number of viable organisms  within the biodiesel after only 3 hours (2.05E+06 down to 1.99E+05 and 6.25E+05 down to 4.72E+04).

After 24 hours, all biocide concentrations tested demonstrated a marked reduction in viable organisms, even at 1 in 50,000 the viable organisms were reduced from 2.71E+06 down to 4.69E+03 in the biodiesel sample.

Most members of the farming community now appear to be aware of the revised spec of Gas Oil and the issues involved around it. But to refresh on the subject, Gas Oil now possesses a minimal sulphur content of 10 ppm. Traditionally, sulphur in fuel added "lubricity" to the fuel, preventing wear on pumps and injectors. It also stabilised the fuel in long term storage.

However, today's fuel will prove less stable in storage than it used to be. Should the fuel also contain biofuel content, the problem will be exacerbated, as biofuel in itself has a short shelf life - approximately 90 days.Care should then be taken where fuel is being stored for long periods: combine harvesters, foragers and grain dryer fuel spring to mind.

It is recommended that the fuel tanks remain filled throughout, so as to counteract condensation. Dosing fuel with STRATUS MULTIPLANT HD and STRATUS ELIMINATE fuel biocide (prior to refill) will ensure fuel stability throughout.

A growing number of operators are now applying STRATUS MULTIPLANT HD to their fuel storage tanks. As an example of MULTIPLANT's efficacy, Mr. William Grimsdale of Mountfair Farming Ltd., Duns, had reported poor running and performance of his machinery. Agriparts (Borders) Ltd.supplied the company with STRATUS MULTIPLANT HD to dose the fuel; Mr.Grimsdale subsequently reported a notable and lasting improvement in engine performance and power output and has since continued to use the product.
